Non-subsumptive memory and narrative empathy

چکیده

This article shows the relevance of a model non-subsumptive understanding for theorising memory as mode sense-making that can contribute to other in ethically sustainable ways. It develops theory and narrative empathy. While is often seen form appropriation, assimilation, subsumption singular under general, hermeneutic approach suggests there are also non-subsumptive, non-appropriative, dialogical forms understanding. In dialogue with Jenny Erpenbeck’s novel Gehen, ging, gegangen ( Go, Went, Gone), argues cultural memorial forms, (narrative) models sense-making, tend be productive when they adapt change applied new situations harmful subsume experiences fixed meaning templates.
